Cretacolor

Cretacolor is an Austrian manufacturer of fine art supplies based in Hirm, Austria. Cretacolor was founded in 1790 by architect and entrepreneur Joseph Hardtmuth who invented the first graphite pencil in Vienna. The brand was later given Royal Approval in 1889 when Queen Victoria first used and loved their pencils. The Cretacolor production plant was bought by Hans Wolfgang Hromatka, an art lover and collector of pencils. He transformed the company into the successful brand it is today and introduced one of its most popular products, the Monolith pencil. Cretacolor now offers an impressive range of high quality pencils, crayons and pastels loved by artists worldwide.

Pullingers stock Cretacolor’s Monolith Graphite Pencil. The Monolith is a 7mm solid stick of pure Austrian graphite encased in a thin lacquer.
